The Asian lifters succeeded to establish 73 new records during the 17th Asian Games in Incheon

Weightlifting competitions of the 17th Asian Games concluded on 26 SEP 2014 in Incheon and the lifters of 11 Asian countries succeeded to obtain the 45 available medals. At the 17th Asian Games ,the Men and Women lifters from China managed to attain 14 brilliant medals including 7 gold, 5 silver and 2 bronze medals.

Following the Chinese athletes , it was the lifters from DPR Korea who collected 9 medals. The representative lifters from Kazakhstan, Iran, Indonesia, Korea, Indonesia, Vietnam, Thailand,Uzbekistan and Iraq were the other Men and Women medalists of the 17th Asian Games.

Although, obtaining medal at Asian Games is of high importance, but from the viewpoint of Women’s team classification, DPR Korea had the best performance by collecting 170 points and the countries such as China and Thailand stood on the 2nd & 3rd winning place.

In Men’s team classification, China achieved the 1st title by acquiring 213 points being superior rather than the others and Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan respectively stood on the on the 2nd & 3rd winning place. Overall, there 77 Women and 136 Men lifters participating in the Weightlifting competitions of the 17th Asian Games .

There were numerous lifters who prosperously succeeded to establish new records; In Men’s 56 kg category it was THACH Kim Tuan (VIE) and OM Yunchol representing DPR Korea who managed to improve the World record in total (once ) , and promote the Asian Games record ( 5 times ) and Asian Record (Thrice).

In Men’s 62 kg category KIM Ungok (PRK) was able to improve the world record (3 times),Asian Games record(5 times) and Asian record (Thrice).

Then, In Men’s 69 kg category it was KIM Myonghyok (PRK ), LIN Qingfeng (CHN) who broke the Asian Games record in Snatch for three times.

In Men’s 77 kg LYU Xiaojun from China was victorious in improving the Asian Games record in Snatch once.

Thence, In Men’s 85 kg it was TIAN Tao the 20 year-old Chinese lifter who broke the Asian Games record twice .

In Men’s +105 kg, SALIMIKORDASIABI Behdad (IRI) was successful in improving the Asian Games record for five times.

On the whole, the Men lifters of the 17th Asian Games could improve the World record (4 times) , Asian Games record (21 times) and Asian record (6 times).

On the other hand in Women’s section, the number of the new records set by the Women athletes was numerous and considerable.

In Women’s 53 kg category CHINSHANLO Zulfyia (KAZ) and HSU Shu Ching (TPE) succeeded to improve the World record ( twice ) ,Asian Games record (2 times) and Asian record (2 times) in Clean & Jerk and total.

In Women’s 63 kg ,LIN Tzu Chi from Chinese Taipei and DENG Wei of China triumphed to promote World record (4 times ), Asian Games record (7 times) and Asian record (4 times) in Snatch, Clean & Jerk as well as total.

In Women’s 69 kg, XIANG Yanmei representing China and RYO Unhui from DPR Korea were able to break the Asian Games record thrice.

In Women’s 75 kg ,KANG Yue from China and KIM Unju from DPR Korea could improve the world record (once) , Asian Games record (6times) and Asian record (twice) and finally in Women’s +75 kg ZHOU Lulu the famous superheavyweight Chinese lifter and GRABOVETSKAYA Mariyana from Kazakhstan victoriously managed to upgrade the world record (once), Asian Games record (6 times) and Asian record (2 times).

On the whole, the women lifters participating at the 17th Asian Games succeeded to promote the world record ((8 times ), Asian Games record (24 times) and Asian record (10 times).

In other words, the Asian Men and Women lifters taking part in the weightlifting competitions of the 17th Asian Games successfully managed to break the world record 12 times, Asian Games record 45 times and Asian record 16 times and on the whole they were all able to establish and set 73 new records.
